How to Build Your Own Kite
When summer begins to point and the sun is rising, you are looking for cool thing to do outside. There are plenty of windy days and you can take advantage to it with flying a kite with your kids, family and friends. Here is how you can do one with what you already have in your house.
First of all, you'll have to look for materials for building. The hardest part will be looking for something to build the frame. You have to look for something thin and strong but very light in weight. Look around your house, look in the things you got... it you don't find anything for this, go out in the woods and look for very small trees and take a thin and long piece of wood there. It will do the job perfectly, and when it's alive and green, it's very strong!
Next, make your frame with what you found. Attach two pieces in a cross shape. You will be making a classic diamond shape kite. You can use garbage bags attach wires or a tight wrap would do the job too. Next, you'll need something for the sail.
This is the easiest part, you can use a simple garbage bag, cut it and use it for the sail. It's very light and thin, it will fly. Attach this sail to your frame with scotch tape or anything you have on hand. Then you are down to the line. A standard fishing line is the way to go. Take it and attach to the center of the frame. You can attach it to both side of your frame too, this would make a more stable kite in stronger winds. Then, you need something for a handle... I'm sure at this point you will find something for this pretty fast.
Now go outside and try to fly it. Maybe you'll need to make some adjustment to it for a nice fly. When you have the right adjustments, you could had a tail to it. Use some hunting ribbons or some ribbons for making birthday gifts, etc... you can attach up to 30 feet or more of this for a magnificent tail.
Now, everyone around will look at your homemade very own kite you made with you hands. All the kids around will want to make their own and come out with you to fly it. Who will make the one that fly higher than others??

Right now I'm in love with the Rokkaku, it's a 6 sided japanese fighter kite. I just made one myself, and they fly beautifully.
I suppose the best type of kite will depend on what you want it to do. Do you want to haul a ton of line laundry, do you want it to haul you along on a buggy, or do you like something that is quick and can dart around the sky...etc.
The large rokkaku, I built one that is 8' tall and about 6'8" wide, is very good at hauling line laundry. It's rock solid in the sky and has quite a pull.
The Hatta, is a square diamond kite, good fighter. It's usually small and can dart around rather quickly in the sky.
Then you have the Delta Conyne, it likes to hover right above you, also a very stable flier. It can fly in the slightest breeze.
Then you have the Nasa Para Wing, a para foil kite that can pull you on a buggy.
