The Swing Set Choices On The Market Today Are Fantastic
Please keep in mind you will need the length, width and dept of the area so when you start shopping around you will be able to narrow your search to swing sets that will fit in your pre-determined spot. Remember, it is recommended to have a 6 foot safety perimeter (referred to as a "safe play area") around the playset and this measurement should be included in the area. The Safe Play Area must be free of all structures, landscaping, trees and branches, rocks, wires, and other obstacles to safe play.
Children can be seriously injured running, or swinging into these obstacles. Remove all tripping hazards from the Safe Play Area. Tripping hazards include; roots, stumps, rocks, landscaping, sprinkler heads, railroad ties, plumbing and electrical connections. Do not install your playset over concrete, gravel, asphalt, packed earth, or any other hard surface. The ground surface must be level. Installing your playset on sloping ground can cause it to lean or crack". This leaning puts additional stress on all connections and joints and in time will cause those connections to loosen and fail.
Now that you have the spot for installation you can choose a swing set. With so many designs on the market you will need to decide if you are going to browse for metal, wood or plastic models. Each brand of manufacturers will have advantages and disadvantages, for example, is the swingset expandable in the future. will the unit grow with your children. Once you determine the type, you start the shop around and compare the features and benefits of the models that are available today.
If you have decided on a set made from metal there a several manufactures that are available today. One thing for consideration is the type of steel, nuts and bolts used. These metal sets will need to be cemented into the ground. Many have monkey bars, glider swings, slides and teeter totters. Most metal sets will not have a climbing fort, fireman's pole, built-in Picnic Table or rock walls.
Swing Sets are also made from plastic or maintenance-free resin material. These sets are usually designed for younger children. New to the market are plastic coated wood boards. Some are made from polymer coated lumber products which never need painting, sanding, sealing or staining. One benefit of this is it stays looking great year after year!

There is a wealth of information on the internet and choices will vary along with the list of manufacturers. Wooden Swing sets offer the best variety with the largest play options available today. Most can be expanded as children grow. The add-ons are fantastic for a wooden swing set. Whether you choose wood, metal or plastic do your research on the manufacturers and you will find the perfect set for your family.

Glider.....any suggestions?
Does anyone have the Fisher Price Soothing Motions Glider? I was wondering if anyone has it and if so what they think of it. Or if there is any other product anyone can suggest. My son is 6 weeks old and is not a huge fan of the swing that we have for him now (the Rainforest swing).
We had One and loved it we had it with our second child.She liked it a lot since i could change the way it would glide and she also liked the music one it.She used it as a place to hang out and to sleep for the first 4 months of her life.I would recommend it we got more then our moneys worth with it.We'd still have it now but had to down size on baby gear for space reasons or else i am sure she'd still be using it now.
