Kite Festival – A Fun filled Event
Kite festivals are a popular form of entertainment all over the world. They usually consist of traditional festivals and small local events. Over the years, major international kite festivals have been taking place bringing in kite flyers from abroad to demonstrate the latest technical kites and display their unique art kites. There are many types of kites such as fighter kite, indoor kite, kytoon, man-lifting kite, stunt kite, and more with interesting designs such as Bermuda, Delta, Bow, Malay, Tetrahedral and Chapi-chapi.
All types of kite enthusiasts are brought together by the Brighton Kite Flyers (BKF) with the intention of exchanging techniques, information and ideas. Since its inception in 1979, the club has gradually developed into a successful group with kite flyers worldwide. The club is respected for its friendly and keen approach to kite flying. In addition, it is popular for its interest to work with numerous kite flyers as well as to promote the hobby/sport of kite flying to the public. The club's enthusiasm was recognised and rewarded twice at the Portsmouth International Kite Festival with the award for "team spirit". The club travels all over the world to participate in specialised kite festivals as well as show events.
The club hosts the Brighton Kite Festival annually bringing some kites with tasteful shapes, colour and sizes to its venue, Stammer Park, Brighton. Renowned as one of the longest running kite festivals in Britain, it displays some world class flyers using all types of kites from beautifully made mini single line kites to some of the greatest team creations.
The future displays of the festival will include an Eddy shaped kite fly of all sizes, traditional Martin Lester Spirit kite fly and kites made in the children's workshop, whilst kite fighting both rokkaku and Indian will also take place in addition to single and team flying of some of the best sport kite flyers in the world.
Visitors to the festival seeking UK hotels will be more than pleased with the accommodation of Millennium Hotels and Resorts UK. Offering UK hotel special offers to provide added convenience to its visitors, these hotels are a top choice among the discerning travel to the region.

What type of kite would you recommend for an older kid, novice?
We are looking for a fun kite for our 10 year old grandnephew. My husband and I will be around to help him if needed.
He may want to try a dual-line kite. They are interactive, you don't just stand there with them! They are loads of fun especially when the youngster gets the hang of it.
Get a very sturdy one, because it's natural position is headed downward toward the ground. And that's what he's going to have fun overcoming as he zips it around the sky. Oh, be prepared to do a lot of retrieving, and stay out of range for when it does come down!
New Tech Kites puts out the Firecracker, try that one (it's about $40 if I recall the price correctly). Make sure you roll the lines all the way out first. It's launched, you don't let the lines out slowly like the single-line versions.
If your grandnephew needs a few hints to get started, he should try just keeping it motionless for a minute when it's up at its top position. His arms should be bent at a 90 degree angle. Then slowly he should move it left and right, just a little bit at first, until he's used to it.
But that's up to him. It's OK to crash, as long as he's having fun...and your legs hold out from running to retrieve it!
