Jehovah's Witnesses: Do you read/listen up on World Events?
For example, newspapers, tv media, radio etc. One sister from my old congregation said "no, I think current events is more sensation then genuine news". Well she did have a point. And for a while it bothered me that she said that. But now my spirituality has taken a hit. I now understand the dangers of reading every single article on Satan's system.
My spirituality has wavered. Sometimes when I read such horrific reports "knowing I cannot know everything" I sometimes stop believing in Jehovah himself. He that sees everything, how could he allow wanton violence and misery? I know why he allows it because of the universal sovereignty issue. But when you read about 12yr old girls getting raped or willing having sex with older men for a tent and food in Haiti you do wonder......
But it does seem like most JWs don't follow current events. Perhaps they don't have the time, and perhaps its better that way.

It can be very depressing to hear about all that is going on. But there are greater issues at stake here than what we see taking place on the earth. There has been a challenge to Jehovah's universal sovereignty. And remember, Jehovah can bring back those who have died due to the wickedness in the world.
My fleshly brother expressed the same doubts you have. He is in law enforcement and has seen with his own eyes how horrible the world can be. I tried to illustrate things this way. When he was an undercover narcotics officer they might stake out a school and watch a drug dealer sell drugs to children. But they would just watch and allow that to happen. Why? So they could follow him back to the main source and totally clean out the problem. If they just arrested the single dealer, another would soon take his place.
It was very hard for him to watch the drugs being sold to young ones. But for the greater good, some temporary suffering had to take place. I hope that makes sense.
Finally keep in mind, the fact that you're hurting for all that you see, is a good sign. You are one of those that are 'sighing and crying over the detestable things' taking place in the world. Try to stick close to Jehovah's organization and seek the counsel of mature ones around you. Along with keeping up with the world's news, make sure you're reading all the spiritually upbuilding information we receive from the "Faithful Slave'. I would venture a guess that you might have let that slip from your priority list of things to do, right? Hang in there my brother......
