Although I haven't had to purchase a new vacuum, I can see the Question of "what to purchase"? I have a canister vacuum cleaner for which I like as it seems to be easier to get into small places around furniture within a living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen areas. It also can be used for vacuuming out the car.
